Los Angeles Jewish Ladies Chorale

Our Mission

The Los Angeles Jewish Ladies Chorale (LAJLC) was founded in 2017 as a non profit organization, to give musically talented Jewish women the opportunity for creative expression and camaraderie, while bringing spiritual inspiration and unity to the community.

Our vision is for a dedicated group of talented women to learn and rehearse Jewish music, directed and composed by professional, qualified female musicians in preparation for women-only events.

We have since evolved into a traveling choir with volunteer singers and administrative staff, who sing at community events as well as privately for women who are going through life’s challenges. Some of these women have recently suffered a loss, are terminally ill, have special needs, are elderly, holocaust surviors, recovering addicts or are in shelters for domestic violence. It’s been our greatest honor to empart to these women hope and faith when we sing for and with them. We invite our audiences to sing with us and stage for an encore and join our audiences on the floor for some uplifting dancing. The unity and joy that is felt by all is hard to put into words.

During autumn of 2017 we began a conversation about building an opportunity for Jewish women to sing together and utilize their talents and the enthusiasm has been awesome.
Throughout our community there are many incredibly talented women who are singers and musicians. Many of these women value modesty and observe the stringencies of Kol Isha. These women have limited musical outlets, and none for adults with opportunity to perform and build musical skills using all Jewish music.

From the initial outreach through social media in January 2018, over sixty women responded with strong enthusiasm:  Los Angeles Jewish Ladies Chorale fills a need that has been unmet for far too long.

We believe that our enthusiasm; focused plan; ability to utilize the extensive network of incredible community talent; and our meticulous financial planning will prove to sustain a unique organization with potential for real impact and longevity. In addition it is clear that we are filling an unmet need.
